Slip and Sliding Fourth of July!

     For the fourth of July me and Drew and my parents went to my aunt and uncles house to celebrate with my family. After we ate my uncle got out the slip and slide. Yes, the slip and slide. But it wasn't one of those store bought slip and slides, it was homemade. My uncle got out this big tarp and a sprinkler and some dish soap and me and my cousins got to slipping and sliding. It was so much fun!

       If you have any spare tarp and dish soap I highly recommend this! But warning you will be sore the next day. I woke up this morning with really sore abs and arms and a giant bruise on my knee, but it was worth it!

Easter Weekend

HE HAS RISEN!!!
     This past weekend was Easter weekend for all of you that were not aware. Easter is a big deal to me. It didn't used to be, until I got into the youth program at my church. That's when the whole idea and my way of viewing Easter changed. Each year my church has an Easter vigil. A vigil is "wakefulness maintained for any reason during the normal hours for sleeping," according to dictionary.com. Each year on Easter weekend we all show up at the church Friday night (Good Friday.) That night we have a "Good Friday Service of Darkness" which the youth runs. This year we sang some songs and showed some videos. During the last song 12 different youth members got to go blow out 12 of the candles on the alter (I being one of the chosen youth members) until there was only one candle left. From that candle we lit a torch that we took outside to a fire pit in this big grassy area in front of the church in sight of the road. We lit a fire there, our goal for the weekend was to keep the fire burning for the rest of the weekend until Easter morning. For those of you not familiar with the story of Easter, Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and died. He was dead for three days, and rose from the dead on the third day which is the day we celebrate Easter. (Just FYI that's a very watered-down, short, not very good, explanation. I highly recommend you read the actual story in the Bible.) So the point of it all is we are "waiting for Jesus." Its an interesting experience, we all stay at the church, sleep on the couches in the youth room, and everyone sign up for a shift out by the fire. There is always someone out by the fire unless there was a storm warning (which we did have a few of those.) It was lots of fun! Here's some pictures from it:

     It was a lot of fun and me, Drew, and Chavis stayed the whole weekend except for a few hours on Saturday night me and Drew left. Me and Drew went to my grandmas house where my dads side of the family was celebrating Easter. Yep, Drew met my family. And I'm happy that Drew still likes me even after meeting my insane family. Over all the weekend was really good, and defiantly an Easter to remember. How was your Easter? What did you do? I'd love to hear from you.

Valentines Day

     Ahh! I'm so sorry its taken so long for me to blog! I've been swamped all week between making up work from classes I missed for stuff, and I'm in a play and I've had rehearsal every night this week. My sincerest apologies.

     Well since I have not yet posted about it, I shall post about my Valentines day. Its not the most exciting story but I would have to say it was the best Valentines day yet for me :) School was... well school, but I did hand out those fun trading Valentines. Ya know the ones we would put in everyones awesome little homade Valentines day boxes? Ah I miss that, don't you? I loved Loved, LOVED! making those boxes. I'd have to say the favorite one I ever made was one that looked like a TV set! It was awesome. I also really liked this one I made that was a giant envelope. I didn't get to make a box this year but I did get some awesome Valentines. They were 3D and groovy :) Also at the end of the day in my English class they handed out these Valentines that they sold at lunch the week before Valentines day. I ended up getting one from Drew! It was so sweet it had some chocolate kisses and a beautiful poem. After school I had to go to my violin lesson and Drew had to go to this Junior Youth Symphony practice he had so we didn't get together until later that night. I went over to his house and we exchanged gifts and we just hung out and watched Pretty In Pink; my favorite movie :) It was a great night. I made him a CD called Old School Jams (which is the name of the playlist on my ipod that me, him, our best friend Rebecca, his little brother Denver, and our moms listened to on our way to an amusement park this summer. It's when me and Drew first realized how similar our music interests are. I also made him a card. He loves Batman so I drew a bunch of Batman related drawings.

I also made some cookies with my grandma and decorated a couple to give to Drew. I mad one the Batman symbol using icing, sprinkles, and these Reese's things. Drew gave me some chocolates, flowers, and two stuffed animal moose (moose is my favorite animal). It was so sweet and I loved them!

I read the play last year in English 1. Not the best story in the world in my opinion but it was still a good story, and very interesting to read. You can chose Bella and Edward from Twilight. When it comes to Twilight I firmly believe in the clever saying "don't judge a book by it's annoying obsessed fan girls". I read the Twilight books and really really liked them! The movies aren't very good and the fan girls suck but the books are awesome! You can chose Jack and Rose from Titanic, which by the way is on ABC Family tomorrow night. Titanic is an amazing movie, I really like it, its a wonderful love story and I also thoroughly enjoy the history with it. You can chose Noah and Allie from The Notebook. A wonderful movie. A great story of love. I must admit I cried... Some Advice For The New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great New Years Eve and slept in very late today. I know I did. I personally was woken up around 1:30 in the afternoon today, I think that may be a new record for me, maybe. Well it's a new year!!! Did anyone make any new years resolutions? I didn't really. Mine was basically keep trying my hardest to be the best Hailey I can be! I feel its a good resolution, also I think it's one I can stick to! As well as trying to be the best Hailey I can be I feel I will try to make 2011 the best year yet (try is the key word there). I mean why not! I'm defiantly not going to attempt to make 2011 worse than any other years. That would be just down right pessimistic and I try my hardest to be optimistic! Well mostly my post today is just saying Happy New Year and my usual ramblings, but I do have one insightful thing to say (or at least it's insightful in my opinion.) Don't waste the next 364 days that lie ahead of you! Try new things, meet new people and just try to enjoy life! Don't be afraid of something just because its new and never try to be anyone your not! I remember when I was younger I was shy and wanted very much to fit in. I had only a few friends and only 1 best friend. I tried to fit in with the "popular crowd" and never seemed to make any progress. On day around 7th grade I gave up on that and accepted my fate as a "weird-o". Next thing I knew I made new friends, became better friends with old friends, and started really enjoying school and everything else I did. I've come to find that I love being different and that the "popular crowd" is all just a matter of opinion. I love my friends and really like being a "weird-o" or a "nerd" or whatever people wanna label me as. Truth is, "just be yourself" is actually very very good advice :)

Christmas Magic

Christmas magic. Do I believe in it?.... OF COURSE! Do you? Many people don't, but I believe its how you look at it. Is it really magic? In a sense, yes but in another since no. I feel theres many types of "Christmas magic". One type is a miracle. A pure, amazing, God sent miracle. Like you find in so many Christmas movies. Another type is just the feeling of hope and cheer that seems to be floating around this time of the year. The Christmas cheer that seems to enter our hearts. Another type, probably my most favorite is the Christmas magic we create ourselves. Those little things we take the time to do that alter another persons feelings, day, maybe even life. Its those little acts of charity that can help out in big big ways. Like today I went to bell ring outside Wal-Mart with a friend. Ya know the people who wear the red apron and ring the bell next to the red money pale. Growing up I would always ask my mom for change for the bell ringer, it was just a thing we did with no real thought to it, it was a habit. It always seemed like it was that way to everyone, but standing out there today I found out the truth, that many people just pass on by without a second thought. I was out there for a little over an hour and less than half the people who walked by gave money. Now I know not everyone has the cash in these hard economic times to give but many do. The Salvation Army doesn't expect you to slip a $20 bill in the pale, its not even really expected to put as much as a dollar in, but just a few coins. A dime or two. We saw enough people today that if every person had just taken the time to put in a quarter or even just a dime we would have had a good sized amount to give to those in need. What people don't seem to see is that quarter or dime burning a hole in your pocket could be so much more. It could be Christmas magic. And charity isn't the only way to make yourself some Christmas magic, sometimes its just how you present yourself to the public around you. I always fill with cheer every time I hear someone humming Christmas songs or smile as they pass by me, and especially when I hear someone wish me a merry Christmas or a happy holidays. So I ask the question again, do you believe in Christmas magic? and to it I add another question, have you made some Christmas magic of your own?

What Do Corn, A Ballarina, And A Ginger Bread Mickey And Minnie Mouse Have In Common? Christmas

     We decorated our tree! It looks so pretty! I love it! The ornaments are so cool! My favorites are corn on the cob, and glass ballarina, a red M&M, Beauty and the Beast, and a ginger bread Mickey and Minnie mouse. The ornaments are all kinda hodge podge but they all have a story :) Like the corn on the cob, my mom bought it for my dad because its his favorite vegtable. The glass ballarina was bought because I used to love dance, and I did it for nine years! the red M&M was bought at one of the huge like 3 story M&M stores. The Beauty and the Beast one, my mom bought the year we went to see the Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast. And the Mickey and Minnie mouse one was bought last time we went to Walt Disney World! I love this time of year! While decorating the tree me and my mom listened to Christmas music. First we listened to a CD called Rudolph and Friends. It has a bunch of songs from movies like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. The second CD we listened to was a Jim Reeves Christmas CD. He's my favorite Chrsitmas singer with songs like The Memory of an Old Christmas Card, Senor Santa Claus, and the Christmas Polka.
