Crossbar = LAME! ..... By Hailey :)

So we had to write movie reviews for my journalism class. I thought I'd share it with you :)

Crossbar = LAME!
By Hailey

How would I describe the made-for-Canadian-TV movie “Crossbar” in one word? Olympic? Inspiring? Touching? Not so much.
Who was Kim Cattrall before she was sex crazed Samantha Jones of “Sex and the City”? She was just Katie, the bipolar Canadian, starring in “Crossbar.” As the “Olympic love interest,” Kim Catrrall did not win the gold medal of my opinion.
But she wasn’t the only one on the “Crossbar team” to not win that gold medal.
Who was Brent Carver before he was Gandolf in “The Lord of the Rings” musical? (The musical not the movie.) He was the “corny afro-tastic Aaron”.  With a role as prestigious as Gandolf, you know he had to be amazing in his early work-right? More or less.
In this movie Aaron, a young Olympic high jumper struggles to deal with the loss of his leg and with his own personal problems as well as trying to convince his skeptical father that he is not a freak but the same guy with a dream he has always been.
What stuck out most to me about the character of Aaron, was his mega perm. Really I didn’t see anything too special or interesting about this character. Though being good with one leg, Brent Carver did not impress me at all in this roll. As far as his acting style goes, I think someone should have stopped him and made him aware of the fact that yelling doesn’t make a moment more dramatic, only loud.
Where the character of Katie could have been very good as a sweet, helpful type of girl, Cattrall portrayed her as bipolar and completely off her rocker, between pushing a guy with one leg into a river and then later telling him she loves him but she doesn’t want to be with him and that she’s leaving for France, but not really, she’s just going to stay with him instead. In the end I was more scared of Katie than touched by her help to her co-star Aaron.
Although the acting wasn’t the only thing to stand out in this movie. There were other components to this film and all its “glory.”
As for the music, that is one soundtrack I will not be buying. The music was too over dramatic and reminded me only of the music people hear going up in an elevator.
I know this movie was based on a farm in the ‘70s but come on people! When the movie first started, I thought I was watching “Attack of the Flannel Shirts” not “Crossbar.”
But if you are a fan of slow-motion close-ups of people in deep thought, this is a movie for you.
It would be very hard to describe this movie in one word; I can’t choose between the words Lame and Bland.

Expecto Patronum!

Does anyone else have the urge to get outside and ride your bike to the mall with a friend? Well I do! I have some cash and some gift cards burning a hole in my pocket. Well actually only one of my gift cards is for a store in the mall and I'm saving most of my money to buy some prescription aviator sunglasses but whatever I still want to ride my bike to the mall with a friend. It's a really nice day outside and I'm just sitting on my couch, blogging, and watching Harry Potter. Now don't get me wrong I love blogging and Harry Potter but I feel lazy. Fun way to start off my spring break, right? Well hopefully my spring break will become more exciting in time. Tuesday, I'm going to Drew's house in the morning and we're going to watch Star Wars from the beginning to as far as we can make it through them. I've never seen Star Wars, sad I know :/
Well, if you weren't aware, I had my Sweet 16 birthday party last weekend. I had it with my best friend Rebecca. It was more of a success than we ever imagined it would be! Instead of presents we asked everyone to bring a donation. Then we took all the profits and gave it to the National Autism Association. When it was all said and done we had raised almost $800, it was awesome! Well here's some pictures of all the birthday fun:

The donation table

Par-tay

Playing basketball

The rock wall

Doing the Cha-Cha Slide

Pinata! We named him Barns Jimmy, I got very attached.

Michelle was the one who officially destroyed Barns

Red light, green light

I think it was a success :)
Well I'm going to go try to enjoy this beautiful day before it's gone :)

NURNBEAR!

So in Journalism we were assigned to go on photoshop and make a picture of some sort of animal holding and/ or using a deadly weapon. It was so funny!!! Then when we were done we got to just mess around on photoshop. So I came up with some hilarious photos. Here's a few:

Me and Amy's animal with a weapon was a bear holding a shark shooting laser beams. I got the idea from Drew. Every time we say goodbye we say "watch out for snakes and bear's with sharks." The bears with sharks apparently came from a movie but I don't know it. I just started saying that cause Drew always said it and it became a habit of my own.

This. Is Nurnbear! I just took the picture of the bear I used for my assignment and put my journalism teachers head on it and took the picture of the coffee cup he always carries around and put it in the bear's hand. He's funny and cute and fluffy all at the same time in this picture!

This I took a picture of a kid in jail and put my friend Amy's head as the kids head. We always make jokes that Amy was in juvie and I call her juvie kid on a regular basis so its our inside joke.
This is another picture I did of my journalism teacher. I while back we came up with a joke of making a My Little Nurnburg doll (Nurnburg's what we call him.) Well Ta-da! My little Nurnburg! :)
This is the animal with a weapon picture my friend and classmate Rebecca made. Its an alpaca with Snape from A Very Potter Musical's head on it, with a sword.

So now I'm in debate class. The seasons pretty much over so its a pretty low key class now-a-day's. I just got finished with this stupid, jank assignment we got. Wow I can't believe I just used the term "jank"... I'm ticked. lol. Well spring break is tomorrow! Woo! I can't wait! I NEED this break!!! I'm not really going anywhere but I'll be happy to be able to chill out and not be as stressed about stuff. I don't really have any plans at all for this spring break except writing a History paper on Theatre of the Elizabethan era/ Elizabeth I. Although me and Drew are trying to make a plan to spend an entire day watching all the Star Wars movies from beginning to end. I haven't seen any of them yet and that fact needs to change. Also I think I'm going to my friend Sydney's sweet 16! Woo! Other than that I have plans for sleeping, sleeping, and sleeping some more. I miss sleep.
So have you seen Shakespeare in Love? If not, and your age 17 or older, YOU NEED TO SEE IT! If your under 17, maybe not... at least talk to your parents of their opinions on you watching an R rated movie. Anyway I love that movie! I love romance movies, comedy's, movies with historical stuff (yeah I'm a nerd), filled with amazing wonderful literature. Ever since the movie I've been thinking in old Elizabethan sounding speech. Like using lots of metaphors and using words like "doth" instead of does. I'm a nerd :/
So I'm not suite sure how to end this post so....

THE END

Partay!

Jello!
So... tomorrow is my birthday and I'm kinda well nervous! For like 3 reasons but really just kinda 2.
    1. Tomorrow is my Sweet Sixteen party. My best friend Rebecca and I were born one day apart. Me the 12th of March, her the 13th of March. So we decided to have a party together, and after over a month of planning its tomorrow! Oi! With all the hard work we put into it I hope its as fun as we are planning on it being. We rented out this place in our town with a big party room and a gym and we invited like over 50 people. We got some big speakers and a way to plug them into my ipod and some other stuff. Its a big deal and so far we have like 40 people coming that we know of. Tomorrow there is a bunch of things I have to go do: 1. Get passport (for a trip I'm taking this summer to Austria, we waited until I was 16 so it would last longer), 2. Pick up party favors, 3. Go to lunch for birthday with parents and boyfriend 4. decorate place 5. go home and eat dinner 6. change to Party clothes 7. PARTAY!!!!! lol. I'm excited.
      2. The most important test known to man... the drivers test. Ok well that's a little over dramatic but to me right now its a pretty big deal. I'm a pretty good driver. My mom took me out tonight to practice parallel parking, and I didn't hit anyone this time (long story). I'm not going this weekend but soon. Wish me luck!
      3. This is not really something I nervous about just like a Oh-my-gosh-I'm-turning-sixteen feeling. Its just kinda a big deal, between getting my license (knock on wood) and other responsibilities that come with its a a weird feeling. I was just thinking about how when I was little I thought I would never be 16 never have responsibilities but now... its here. Wow. Then I started thinking about my little cousin KamRay who just turned one not too long ago. I found out just a few days ago he's talking! He growing up so fast! Then I thought "hmm how old will I be when he turns 16?" I'LL BE 31!!!!! :O :O :O Oi!
I had a pretty good "day before my birthday" day. School was well school but it wasn't too horrible. We got to watch "Roxanne" in my English class because we're reading the play "Cyrano de Bergerac." I love that movie so it was fun to watch the it (if you have not seen it you should!). Then after school I got the movie Shakespeare in Love which I've been wanting to see again! (I may start it tonight... maybe). Then my mom took me to get a soda at McDonald's :) Then I went to Drew's house and we walked to park near his house and just hung out and enjoyed the nice weather we had today then his family invited me to stay for dinner which was nice :) Then we watched "Rugrats" (LOVE that show!) until I went home. Then I got to practice some driving and then come home and just chill (which that's what I call sitting at the computer blogging). Also I wore this new shirt I got at American Eagle yesterday. Its White with some orange strips and it looks like a shirt from the 80's and its SO COMFORTABLE!!!! I love it! :)
Well that's all I really have to randomly ramble about today. Don't forget to vote on the March poll! Who would rather have in your house? Paul McCartney :)? or a robot?

Paul McCartney of The Beatles!

A robot

Its a debate me and my friend Michelle got into one day in English because she had a button with a robot on it, on her ID lanyard and I had a Beatles button on mine. Please help us settle this :)

"Pay attention and you will see how genius creates a legend." -Shakespeare in Love

Ello :)
So I'm listening to Disney music and its making me very happy :) I know I've said this before but if 1. you don't have a Pandora then GET ONE! and 2. As soon as you get one or if you already have one you MUST make a Walt Disney station. It is amazing!!! I love Disney <3 <3 <3 I own almost every old Disney movie you can think of, except Beauty and the Beast. I used to own it but then my dad didn't check the VHS before he taped something not as important as Beauty and the Beast over it :( I cried. At least he didn't tape over Cinderella, I would have killed him if he did. Its my favorite Disney movie. Bibitty Bobitty Boop!
I'm kinda on a movie high lately. I have three movies that I really want to see. Their all dramatic which generally isn't my style but I want to see these so bad!!!!
     1. Shakespeare In Love. Its a movie I've already seen some of, but not all of it. It was my inspiration for my World History paper (that I have yet to start), which is the history of theatre/ Elizabeth I. I love theatre! I've seen many plays in my days, even some Broadway plays (ex. Legally Blonde the Musical, The Lion King, The Music Man). I'm currently interested in seeing the opera La Boheme.
     2. The Phantom of the Opera. Its a classic and I have a couple friends who love it so I want to see it. I'd also LOVE to see it as a play of course, but ill start with seeing the movie. Is there any plays and/ or musicals you want to see?
     3. Les Miserables. I had already seen the very beginning once when a connection was made to the beginning in my Sunday school class. Then this past week my World History teacher showed us the first 30 minutes of it. Now I really want to see the rest of it. I also wouldn't mind seeing the opera as well :)
As you can see from all this I am also on a theatre high. But I'm always on that :) If you are wanting to see a show I could suggest many: Legally Blonde the Musical (my favorite), The Music Man (my 2nd favorite), The Putnam County Spelling Bee, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil. Plays I want to see that you might too: Wicked, Mary Poppins, American Idiot, Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles, Mamma Mia, Wonderland, Viva ELVIS Cirque du soleil. Also there's Jersey Boys, I'm getting ready to see that one. Me, my mom, and my aunt are planning a trip to a near by town that its coming to soon :)
My favorite play is Leagally Blonde the Musical, I have the CD soundtrack, a T-shirt, a big button! I love it! I went and saw it a year ago. My mom got me tickets for my birthday. One of the best gifts I've ever received :) I sang along throughout the whole play! I wish my school theatre department would do it, I would try out for it in a heart beat! My friend Sydney also loves it, we both think our high school should do it and we'd both try out and we think she should get Paulette and I should get Elle. We know all the words to all the songs, a lot of the lines, and we sing it... well a lot, lol.
Well I think I've rambled enough for now.

God Bless

Happy Birthday DREW!!!!!

Well its sad to say that Romantic February has come to an end. But don't think that you can no longer e-mail me! I would still love to hear from any of you! I'm also willing to give advice?? Maybe? Just don't expect a professional answer... lol. Well the winner of this months poll (Best Couple) was me and Drew. We won with 5 votes vs. two votes for two other couples. We are both very honored you choose us :)
Speaking Drew it is his BIRTHDAY!!!!! WOOHOO!!! I decided to be extra girlfriendy today for his birthday. As well as giving him a present (which was a cool key chain with his initials and cross) and a card (a store bought Batman card for a grandson that I put blue tape over the parts that said "grandson" and wrote "Drew" on them :) I also left him a homemade card in each of this classes today. Also I gave him a cup cake I got from this fancy cupcake place downtown that was peanut butter cup and gave it to him at lunch today :) I think he liked it all. Then tonight I went to his church (as I almost always do on Wednesday nights) but tonight was special because we were celebrating March birthdays! Which mines just happens to be in March too (and Chavis' birthday which was in December but we never really did much for it). It was very nice, we ate ice cream cake, and each kid got a cool homemade card from one of the ladies at the church plus a $10 gift card to Toy's R' Us (which I'm so excited for cause I haven't been there in forever!!!) and a card and a $10 bill from the church family as a whole. Then afterwards us 6 kids went outside and had a war where we flicked bottle caps at eachother, then played Ninja. It was awesome :) Well in celebration of Drew's birthday I thought I would post some funny pics of him :)
